Description

"What is my place in this vast world?" This is the question explored in Errance, a dramatic comedy straddling the line between profound insight and absurdity.
Why Wandering?
We belong to a generation whose faith in the future has been stolen by an awareness of the danger posed by our Western societal model. We live in a world adrift between a fierce desire to maintain the status quo and a need for radical change. We are a generation grappling with finding our bearings in a society where virtual illusion blends with a reality fearful of tomorrow. We are a generation forcibly wedded to aimless wandering. A theme both terrifying and fundamental, aimless wandering lies at the heart of current events, in which the feeling of disorientation has never been so pervasive. Who am I? What am I doing here? What is my place in this world in motion? What is my perspective? Errance is a multidisciplinary tragicomedy, incorporating dance, music, song, and video surveillance.

We worked along two lines:
• The axis of reality: the life of a group, each with their own wanderings, fears, and hopes, living in a society traumatized by an environmental catastrophe that took place 3 years earlier.
• The axis of the paintings of Errance: a plunge into a dreamlike world, without temporality, universal and intimate, stemming from the fact that most of the texts were written by the artists themselves.
Thus, the dramatic structure was built using a process of interweaving a dreamlike world characteristic of theater with a harsher reality, disrupting the beauty of the scenes and allowing the audience to see behind the scenes, while simultaneously confronting them with current environmental, social, and political issues. This is achieved with a slight distancing effect due to the fact that the action takes place in 2030.
