Description

Dvorák's Cello Concerto is one of the most moving and admired pieces in the Romantic repertoire.
Composed in 1894, this work strikes a perfect balance between orchestral intensity and the profound sound of the solo cello. Dvořák unfolds a lyricism sublimated by the orchestra, while infusing it with Czech colors, nourished by the folk songs of his native land. Between brilliance and intimacy, the concerto explores the full richness of the cello, an instrument whose virtuosity and poetry Raphaël Jouan, a talented soloist, will express with remarkable skill.

The journey continues with Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt, a work of spectacular power, born from Ibsen's play. With this composition, Grieg captures the very essence of the mythical adventures and inner dilemmas of the character, while offering music of majestic beauty.

A new chapter in contemporary music will come to life on stage with Élise Bertrand's original creation, entitled Prière (Prayer), for voice and orchestra. Composed from Antonin Artaud's poem Prière, this work offers a unique musical interpretation of the text, to be performed by Emmanuelle Demuyter.

Finally, continuing the new tradition established by Marc Korovitch two years ago, this concert will feature a "mystery piece," a true little treasure to discover: Invitation to the Voyage. A hint: this work, composed for two soloists, a violin and a viola, will be performed by Élise Bertrand on violin and Paul Zientara on viola, who will bring out its exquisite nuances.

Please note:
Pre-concert · 7:45 PM
Free admission - Entry upon presentation of concert ticket

Introduction by Julie Terranti

The theatre staff does their best to start the show on time. We recommend arriving at least half an hour before the performance begins. Once the show has started, your assigned seating category will no longer be guaranteed, and you will be seated in a way that does not disrupt the performance.
