Siegfried then promises Odette that he will marry her at the ball given in her honor. Will they escape the treachery of Rothbart and his daughter Odile? Will the Prince succeed in saving his beloved? Created in 1875 by the Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Swan Lake became the greatest classical success of all time in 1895 with the revival by choreographer Marius Petipa.
