To bookDescription
United States. Twelve men, during deliberations in a trial, bear the responsibility of judging a young man accused of patricide. While eleven of them are convinced of his guilt, one juror expresses doubts. Unanimity is required for a verdict. A life hangs in the balance. It's acquittal or the electric chair. In a palpable tension, we witness a judicial drama in which the intelligence, humanity, and perseverance of one man challenge the certainties and prejudices of the other eleven jurors, each shaped and influenced by their own personal history. Beyond the stakes of the trial, this play, with its eminently modern themes, questions the administration of justice, revealing how deeply ingrained prejudices and the intolerance of some can determine a man's fate. The Théâtre Hébertot revisits the masterpiece by American playwright Reginald Rose, “Twelve Angry Men,” written in 1953 and adapted for the screen by Sydney Lumet four years later. Directed by Charles Tordjman, this new theatrical adaptation is by Francis Lombrail, who previously adapted another American play, “The Cards of Power,” with great success.
