The permanent collection of the Marc Chagall National Museum is the largest public collection of works by Marc Chagall. It is organized around the series created by the painter on themes from the Old Testament, complemented by numerous works of secular and religious inspiration: more than 800 paintings, gouaches, drawings, washes, and pastels. The temporary exhibitions organized by the museum offer a deeper understanding of the diverse aspects of the work of Marc Chagall, one of the most inventive artists of the twentieth century. They also showcase emerging artists whose work resonates with the artist's sensibility. The museum's auditorium is famous for its three large stained-glass windows depicting Creation. Chamber and contemporary music concerts, films, colloquia and conferences are regularly organised there.
