On February 23, 2024, EMPOR, the fourth studio album from Hamburg-based techno marching band MEUTE, was released on their own label, Tumult. EMPOR showcases the evolution of their musical identity through the creation of original techno compositions and reinterpretations of well-known techno tracks. The album title symbolizes not only the feeling of limitlessness after the pandemic but also the extraordinary journey of the live techno phenomenon that began in the streets of St. Pauli and is now celebrated worldwide. "EMPOR is the collective ascent, the rebirth of possibilities, and an embrace of the limitless potential that awaits us," says band leader Thomas Burhorn regarding the album's name. With "Vermis," the album's lead track, MEUTE unveils a dark and powerful original composition by sousaphonist Philipp Westermann, which pushes the boundaries of the genre they themselves created even further.
